Supporting Older People In Our Communities
Tollers is proud to announce its Charities of the Year from 1 April 2018…
Age UK local centres in Northampton, Kettering, Milton Keynes & Bedford and Age Concern in Stevenage.
All 8 of the Tollers offices will be supporting the above-mentioned centres in the coming year.
Age UK and Age Concern work hard to ensure that the older generations of our communities are protected, included and treated with respect.
The centres provide a wide range of vital support services to older people, from advice and information support, tackling loneliness and isolation, improving health and wellbeing, shopping, help at home and many more. The wellbeing centres offer older people a friendly and supportive environment where they can be with other people and make friends. There is support from trained staff and volunteers and clients enjoy a variety of activities which might include singing and music, quizzes, gentle exercise, arts and crafts or a day trip. Demand for these services is increasing all the time.
Tollers’ staff love a party and have been actively involved with the Northampton, Kettering and Stevenage centres, joining in the Christmas parties, carol singing and delivering presents to the party goers. These occasions touched our hearts as we observed the excellent work done by staff and volunteers to spread joy & happiness to those who might otherwise be lonely. This, along with our strong ties with all the centres local to our offices, means that we are delighted that they will be our Charities of the Year for 2018/19.
Tollers’ aim over the next year is to raise funds to help each centre welcome increasing numbers of elderly and vulnerable people and to offer activities to combat isolation and loneliness. We also wish to support them with donations to their charity shops and volunteering at the local centres.
Duncan Nicholson, Managing Partner said ‘Tollers is proud to support Age UK and Age Concern in our local communities and we look forward to helping to make a difference through our fundraising and volunteering.’
