Rebecca works alongside Gary Tait and the firm’s commercial and corporate department. She has experience of all areas of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, including, TUPE, acquisitions, strike action, discrimination, breach of contract, dismissals, redundancies, settlement agreements, agency workers, commercial agents, the Bribery Act and academies. Rebecca advises the firm’s major clients and other businesses on employment issues and assisting them through the various processes and procedures, including Tribunal Claims. She also generally assists the department and is responsible for quality compliance, business development and team organisation and supervises the department’s Trainee Solicitors and is a mentor for the firm’s Trainee Solicitors.

Rebecca undertakes in house training for clients’ HR departments and has most recently been working closely with a large national company to train their managers and help review and improve the company’s HR processes and practices and also frequently presents series of free seminars to local business on changes to employment law, as well as areas that commonly cause employers concern. 

Rebecca is a keen advocate and often successfully represents the department’s high profile clients in the employment tribunals, taking responsibility for some of the department’s large client accounts. She speaks French and German and can advise on some French and German employment law issues. Rebecca is often featured as an Employment Law guest on BBC Radio Northampton.

She is also a keen rugby supporter and has a season ticket for Wasps.

In her spare time Rebecca loves to travel and is a keen rugby supporter, her favorite team being Wasps, which can cause some friendly discussions in the Northampton office, with her colleagues and her clients!

  • Rebecca List represented and advised Check4Cancer in 2016-2017 regarding an alleged case of unfair dismissal raised by the former Managing Director. I worked very closely with Rebecca who took our own evidence and turned into the official bundle with great attention to detail. In the time before the preliminary hearing, Rebecca made us aware of the likely scenarios and managed our expectations in a professional yet caring manner. In addition, she handled repeated attempts by the Claimant to disrupt the process with a firm and effective approach. Following the final hearing in September 2017, we were delighted by the judgement that rejected the claim for unfair dismissal. This was largely due to Rebecca’s thorough preparation and understanding of the case, which led to the judge documenting that our evidence “was consistent and should be favoured”. Attendance at an employment tribunal exposes small companies to a process that is alien and stressful, but Rebecca worked closely with us to manage out concerns and make that process as smooth as possible. Rebecca combines great attention to detail with a drive and ambition to be one of the best in her field of employment law, while looking after her clients in a caring yet professional manner.
