Both parents and young people are now encouraged to find a school that suits them. This might be the local school, but might now include other schools such as academies in english, maths, languages, art or sport or those which have a religious ethos or are reserved for a single sex of people. The task for parents in choosing a school that suits the young person is an important process and when a young person does not receive a place at the school of choice it can cause disappointment and upset.
School Appeals Solicitor
We offer a fully inclusive service to support and represent parents in an appeal against a decision not to place their child at their preferred primary or secondary school or to assist with a one-off in year appeal.
It is disappointing for everyone when young people do not get a place at their preferred school. A decision can be appealed and Tollers can provide expert advice, guidance and representation during the appeal process.
The service is flexible allowing parents to choose from the following options:
- Advice and support – this service entails our solicitors assisting with the presentation of the appeal letter and preparing the parent to present their case to the School Appeals Committee. The fee for this is £750.00 plus VAT per school appeal.
- Representation at the appeal – our experienced solicitors can represent the parents at the Appeal hearing if required. The fee for this is £750.00 plus VAT per school appeal hearing.
- Advice, support and representation – a combination of the two services. The fee for this is £1,500.00 plus VAT.
Talk to Tollers
We offer the options set out above to tailor the help we give as some parents are concerned about preparing their case and others about presenting it. It will be necessary to make the appeal in writing, or by email, to the Admission Authority before the date specified in the allocation letter or decision letter you receive. An independent panel will then consider your case at an appeal hearing.
