Witness Statements
We will take detailed witness statements from you and your witnesses. The Court will tell us when these have to be exchanged with your opponent. Your statement is very important and, therefore, we try to take this from you as soon as possible after the accident, when memories are fresh. It will cover the accident circumstances, how you were before the accident and the effect the accident has had both in terms of your injury, your work and your social life.
It is important that we cover everything relevant to the claim because, if something is missed out, then you, or the witness who made the statement, maybe prevented by the Judge from mentioning it later. In effect, your witness statement will be your only chance to tell the Judge your story – so you have to get it right. Please check it very, very carefully. Tell us if anything is not completely correct or if any information is missing. We would much rather have too much information than too little.
It will help us if, as early as possible, you give us the name and contact details of any witnesses who could back up what you say about any part of your claim.
