Increasingly in family law cases, people involved in those cases are keen, where possible, to undertake some of the work themselves to save costs.
With the developing sophistication of the internet, this is becoming increasingly easier to achieve.
As a consequence, in some straightforward cases, we have been asked to act as a “legal backup service” for clients who feel able to undertake some of the legal work themselves, but wish to be able to take advice and assistance as and when needed.
The advice and assistance may involve running an eye over a letter or Court document a client may have prepared. Where necessary, we can help in fine tuning such paperwork. Clients have even dealt with some straightforward Court hearings themselves, but prior to those Court hearings have sought our advice as to Court etiquette, the process at Court, etc. We have even found ourselves involved by way of being at the end of a telephone if a client needs to contact us whilst at Court.
We are more than happy to provide this service.
You will be dealing with most of the case yourself, but confident in the knowledge that when help is necessary, it is available. If matters become more complicated, then you would also have the confidence of knowing that we can step into the full role of being your family lawyer, ready to fight your corner for you.
If you have prepared some paperwork, you are more than welcome to bring it to us for a fixed fee meeting (£90 inclusive of VAT) and we will run our legal eye over it.
