Accidents Abroad

Just because your accident didn’t happen in this country doesn’t mean to say you cannot claim. If you were injured or were ill abroad, it may be possible to claim compensation. There are a number of rules and regulations which help people who were injured abroad bring claims in their own country.
For example, if you were injured in a road traffic accident in an EU country, you should be able to recover compensation through a specialist section of the Motor Insurers Bureau. Drivers from EU countries are required to have basic insurance to cover claims of this type. A claim is brought directly against the driver’s insurers or their claims representatives in the UK. In some cases such as accidents in France, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists could have an automatic right to claim compensation under their rules even if nobody is at fault and these claims can be made abroad in those countries.
Holidays are meant to be relaxing and stress free but they can go wrong. If your holiday was organised as a package holiday there are particular rules which can help you make a claim if you contracted an illness due to the negligence of the hotel or cruise ship for example, or if the hotel or place you were staying was dangerous. Trying to deal with the holiday companies when you come back, or even their representatives whilst you were on holiday, can be frustrating and stressful. We can take over on your behalf.
As with all injury or illness claims, it is important that you gather as much evidence and record things in accident books or writing at the time. Video evidence is often extremely useful, particularly if we need to show the hazard or defect in the hotel premises.
