At Tollers, we believe that every corporate entity has a responsibility to aide where they can with charities and other worth-while causes. Tollers are therefore passionate about helping our local communities in whatever way we can. So, on Friday 27 January 2017 our trainees made their way to the MK Food Bank in Milton Keynes.
The MK Food Bank relies entirely on donations in order to aide those that require assistance in times of need. Individuals and families that have been referred from various Agencies as being entitled to assistance are issued with food vouchers. The food vouchers entitle the bearers to collect pre-prepared food parcels from various serving sessions around Milton Keynes.
The Tollers trainees spent their morning assisting at the Food Bank’s warehouses. Two of the trainees essentially went food shopping around the warehouses in order to prepare the food parcels for that afternoon’s serving session, while the other two had more of a physically demanding role of replenishing the warehouses’ stocks by moving crates of food from one warehouse to another.
Later, the trainees made their way to one of the serving session’s in the centre of Milton Keynes to aide in distributing the food parcels and offering tea and biscuits to the clients of the Food Bank. It was great to meet some of the staff and volunteers that offer so much of their time in order to help those in need and Tollers look forward to working with the MK Food Bank again in the future.
