Tollers would like to Congratulate POhWER on their 20th anniversary ‘Shout about it’ event which was held in Stevenage on 5 May 2016. Tollers solicitors where very proud to sponsor, and take part in, such a successful event, which brought together a range of groups and organisations that aimed to help and assist those that seek to have their voices heard.
POhWER is a charity that provide information, advice, support and advocacy services to people who experience disability, vulnerability, distress and social exclusion, across parts of the UK, in a variety of situations. POhWER provide a valuable resource to many, without which they may well suffer in silence.
The ‘Shout about it’ event was very well attended, and provided the public with free access to associations, groups and individuals that could empower them to take some control of their lives, or signpost them to those who may be able to do so.
Fiona Nash, Karon Walton and Dr Darren Conway PhD from Tollers provided advice and guidance on: personal injury claims (including clinical negligence or neglect in a care home), Wills and Powers of Attorney, administering the estate of a deceased family member and physical or financial abuse of an elderly or vulnerable family member.
Dr Darren Conway PhD said “on the day we received a lot of interest from members of the public and other organisations. I hope we were able to help all of them. Although each organisation was there because it offered a service to people, there is clearly a gap in integrating those services. Events like this one, organised by POhWER, are important in helping to eliminate those gaps between providers, and ensure the public have access to continuity of available services.”
IT was a really great day with our raffled Hamper of goodies, for a delicious afternoon tea, being won by Jason Rees of Stevenage. We hope he picks a nice afternoon to enjoy the hamper. Our homemade cup-cakes were also very popular on the day.
