Leading regional law firm Tollers LLP today announced that their Managing Partner Duncan Nicholson has been included in The Lawyer magazine’s ‘Hot 100’ list, the ‘must be on list’ of outstanding talent in the legal sector.
The Hot 100 list recognises Lawyers for their innovative work in their chosen field and disciplines. Every individual chosen is subject to months of in-depth research by the Lawyer’s specialist team of editors and industry experts, who look at the candidate’s contribution to their firm, their client work and their progression within the profession.
Mr Nicholson has been included in this years ‘Leaders’ section for his management and contribution to Tollers financial improvement and success over the last few years.
When including him in the list, the Lawyer magazine commented that Mr Nicholson had “overseen one of the most dramatic reversals of fortune in the UK legal market”.
On Mr Nicholson’s appointment as Managing Partner there followed an intense period of change at Tollers, which in the short term included overhead reduction to improve profitability and create stability. Thereafter a full strategic review was undertaken, which has led to a refocusing of the business combined with necessary efficiencies and additional improvements being implemented.
The firm’s debt position significantly improved and the healthier financial position allowed Tollers to invest and reshape its business in the ever changing legal landscape. The firm has been able to invest significantly in both Commercial and Private Client practice areas as well as opening a new office in Stevenage. The resultant appointments and expansion into new markets has given rise to growth at Tollers and the enhancement of its position as a leading regional practice in the Midlands.
Mr Nicholson says “My inclusion in this list is recognition for the firm as a whole. We continue to progress and move in the right direction. Our debt continues to reduce despite heavy investment in people, our offices, technology and our brand. There is always work to be done but we are proud of our achievements to date.”
Tollers is on track and is building a more balanced customer centric business under the watchful eye and direction of its Managing Partner Duncan Nicholson.
