Successful Workplace accident in power station
13/08/2012Alan Cameron of Tollers was pleased to have been able to have helped Mr Sweeney of Northampton with his claim following an accident at work. He was working as a mechanical fitter at a power station when a transformer fell onto his left hand fracturing his left middle finger.
Mr Sweeney was only able to do light duties. He was then made redundant. The injury prevented him from getting another job and he suffered five months’ loss of earnings. Although liability for Mr Sweeney’s accident was admitted, there were significant arguments by his employers, who refused to pay his lost earnings. First they only offered £3,500 compensation, considerably short on the proper value of the claim. They were unwilling to make any sensible offer and Alan therefore took the claim to court. He successfully negotiated a settlement of £30,000.
Alan was able to deal with Mr Sweeney’s case on a “No-Win-No-Fee” basis, and he got to keep 100% of his compensation.
