Metal on Metal Hip Implants – new advice being considered
30/01/2012Metal on Metal Hip Implants – new advice being considered
The Sunday Telegraph reports that the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) is considering new advice for patients fitted with metal on metal hip replacements due to concerns that the devices could cause systemic toxicity. We will endeavour to let you know once any news is released.
They report that new research indicates some devices have a failure rate of up to 50%. This is a rather vague report, but certainly many people have been affected They report that nine legal firms are preparing claims for over a thousand patients who suffered as a result of two of the devices. Tollers are involved in this litigation and are assisting a group of people who have been afflicted.
If you have been affected by problems caused by these hip implants please contact Tristan Holdom at Tollers on 01604-258-175 or tristan.holdom@tollers.co.uk . Tristan is coordinating the people we are assisting in the Group Action.
Tollers have or are involved in a number of group action claims involving medical products that failed. An example is the PIP Breast Implant.
