Collaborative Law
Over 150,000 people currently divorce every year in the UK. For many it is an overwhelming time, fraught with emotion and stress. Sadly the court process can be lengthy and very acrimonious. But there is now a relatively new structured alternative to the courts called Collaborative Law. This has as its central feature a pledge by the couple to resolve issues in a dignified and civilised manner without going to court.
Naturally the collaborative process is not for everyone. However, if the couple approach it with the right attitude they can lay the foundations for a better future. The collaborative process can produce final agreements that are more detailed and complete than any order issued by a judge after a contested court hearing and thereby meets the couples own particular needs.
At Tollers, we have one of the first solicitors to qualify to practice Collaborative Law, Sally Smith.
